Liam Gallagher has spoken about gaining more confidence in himself as a solo artist and upcoming song ‘Once’ being one of the greatest songs ever written.
He said during an exclusive interview with Q Magazine:
“I had the rug pulled from under me. But ‘As You Were’ that record people digged it, people seemed to like it it’s not curing cancer or anything, but peopled liked it. It’s given us the confidence or the reason to go and do another one. The last couple of years were mega man. It’s nice to be back and to be in with people’s hearts again. So, some more of the fucking same I think. I think this album’s better man, it’s got better songs on it. Singing that’s where I’m at. I’m good in the studio, I don’t think I’ve ever done a shit vocal in the studio, the next thing is getting consistency when you’re out on the road, so we’ll see.”
When Ted Tessler, Editor of Q Magazine, brought up the song ‘Once’ which was shown on Liam’s documentary ‘As It Was’ Liam responded:
“That’s a fucking tune. That for me is one of the best fucking songs I think ever written. I think anyway, d’you know what I mean? I’m digging the vocals.”
He was also very honest during the interview at the fact that he hasn’t done as much writing on this album as the last one and the songs are co-written, but nonetheless will be great. So, far we have heard ‘Shockwave’ and ‘The River’ which have both been rock and roll bangers. Songs like ‘Once’ are more of an angelic and beautiful ballad, so there is seemingly a diverse range in songs throughout the record. To listen to the full interview head over to planetradio.co.uk
