Manchester City’s 5-3 win over Monaco at the Etihad Stadium will be remembered more for its controversy than the goals, with musician Liam Gallagher taking to Twitter to slam referee Mateu Lahoz for his poor decisions.
With the Citizens at one stage trailing 3-1, Pep Guardiola’s side completed an extraordinary comeback when goals from Sergio Aguero, John Stones and Leroy Sane placed the hosts in a commanding position.
However, the home-side were left fuming after Aguero was dubiously booked for diving instead of being awarded a penalty and Nicolas Otamendi later conceding a spot kick.
As such, the Oasis singer opted to express his outrage on social media, tweeting: “That refs (sic) a c*nt.”
