Liam Gallagher hopes Richard Ashcroft will support Oasis during their anticipated 2025 reunion tour.
Although no official support acts are confirmed yet, Gallagher has publicly expressed his desire to have Ashcroft join the lineup.
Ashcroft’s Connection to Oasis and ‘Cast No Shadow’
Ashcroft has a long history with Oasis. He inspired the song “Cast No Shadow.” In a 1995 interview, Noel Gallagher explained: “I felt he was born at the wrong time and place, always trying to say the right things.”
Ashcroft, honored by Noel‘s words, said in 1997: “That’s one of the best songs he’s ever written, in my opinion.”
Collaborations Between Ashcroft and Liam Gallagher
Recently, Liam and Ashcroft collaborated on the 2022 single, “C’mon People (We’re Making It Now).” Ashcroft also performed as a special guest during Liam’s Finsbury Park headlining show in 2018.
A Shared History Dating Back to 1993
The Verve, Ashcroft’s band, first performed with Oasis in 1993, before either band found fame. In 1997, they supported Oasis at London’s Earls Court, when both bands had risen to stardom.
Given their 30-year history, Ashcroft supporting Oasis in 2025 would be a fitting choice, adding to their shared legacy.
Liam Gallagher’s Enthusiasm for Ashcroft’s Potential Support
When asked by a fan on X about Ashcroft supporting Oasis in 2025, Liam responded: “That would be BIBLICAL.”
This aligns with a report from The Independent, where a source close to Oasis shared that Liam wants established acts. However, discussions are still ongoing.
