Noel Gallagher was spotted in London filming a music video with actor Matt Smith over the weekend.
The 53-year-old former Oasis guitarist filmed a promo for his upcoming High Flying Birds single with 38-year-old The Crown star Matt Smith and an unknown actress in West London.
Matt and his co-star were seen riding a classic black Jaguar. It appeared to be the car the “Stand By Me” hitmaker bought for £100,000 in the height of Oasis‘ fame, despite not having a driver’s license.
A source told The Sun‘s Bizarre column: “The video is for Noel’s upcoming High Flying Birds single, and he wanted it to stand out.
“These days, many people skip making proper videos. But Noel is a bit old-school; he values videos to communicate a track’s message.”
“It’s a cool, heavily-styled look, and Matt is perfect for the lead.”
An onlooker described the female actress on set with Noel and Matt—who attended the Some Might Say rocker’s 50th birthday in 2017:
“I’m not sure who she is, but they looked great together. Matt‘s suit was impressive, the car was retro, and her outfit matched—it’s a fantastic track.”
Noel once joked about his classic car:
“I thought when I became a rock star, I’d need a car. So, I got a Mk2 Jaguar from 1967, the year I was born. It has 12 miles on it and just sits in the garage.”
Meanwhile, the “Wonderwall” songwriter—who recently teamed up with CamelPhat on the tech-house track “Not Over Yet”—admitted his latest songs “are the best” High Flying Birds music he’s made.
He said:
“The two songs I’ve done in the last weeks are easily the best High Flying Birds work I’ve ever done. One of them is just ‘wow’—I even surprise myself sometimes.”
