Noel Gallagher mocks Liam’s appearance calling him a ‘fat man in an anorak’ in a new column for the Daily Star.
In the piece Noel declines an Oasis reunion and takes a harsh dig at his younger brother saying:
“If they want to hear old Oasis songs they’re being played by a fat man in an anorak somewhere, you know, with shorts on so they can go and see that. I’ve no desire at all to get back involved with Oasis. I’m afraid Oasis is in the past and that’s it. There’s a lot of people in England who refuse to accept that it’s over. It’s like when they watch box sets and they don’t like the ending. They refuse to believe that is the way it ends because they didn’t want it to end like that. I’m afraid life is not like that, you know.”
However, his comments have not gone down too well online with some users accusing him of feeding into the tabloid media to get at Liam, like what he was alleged to have done prior and after the Oasis split to try and portray Liam in the most negative light possible.
This has also spread concern that he is perpetuating a negative body image message. Liam isn’t what you’d class as being an unhealthy size and consequently attitudes like these can be very damaging for people’s self image. Liam has not responded to Noel’s latest jibe. Noel recently accused him of ‘murdering’ the songs he sings live, during an interview with Absolute Radio.
