Noel Gallagher has recently talked about his fears of having Christmas ruined by a new family member… His dog.
The singer hates the festive season and says this year will be his most stressful yet: he is moving house and getting a new family pet. He said “I do try and get out of it. I try and work up to five to eleven on Christmas Eve so I don’t have to get involved. But this Christmas is going to be one of the worst because we’re moving house and – and I’ve been blagged into getting a dog.”
Noel was speaking on DJ Ken Bruce’s BBC Radio 2 show. When it was suggested the animal would be a lovely addition to the family Noel, who has two young sons with second wife Sara, disagreed: “My wife loves you – she’s from Edinburgh and she’ll be listening to this thinking ‘the miserable…’ I’m not particularly fond of them. I don’t mind other people’s dogs. It’s going to be very stressful moving house at Christmas with a new dog, which is effectively a new child.”
Noel then added: “The commercialisation of Christmas gets more about spending money. More importantly it gets more about borrowing money and we wonder why the world is the way it is or people are the way they are. People seem to put so much into it and you get so little out of it.”
But Gallagher did confess he loves the New Year: “I like the turning of the cycle – we start again and all that.”
