Noel Gallagher’s wife has spoken out for the first time about his toxic feud with brother Liam, revealing that the couple’s 12-year-old son has never met his uncle.
Sara MacDonald told Vogue she fears the Oasis singer could even turn on her two young sons after he made repeated attacks on her and her family on social media.
The 48-year-old – whose two children Donovan and Sonny are just 12 and nine – says she has to stop her older son looking on the internet for reports on the warring rock stars for fear he will read ‘horrible’ stories.
And she says the ongoing row has left £50 million Noel in a ‘lonely and unpleasant’ place.
She said: ‘Donovan’s new school friends can’t understand why he’s never met his uncle and he has started Googling things.
‘I’ve said “You have to stop. You are going to read horrible things about us.” I don’t want my boys to think that’s a normal relationship between brothers.’
Former PR girl Sara was incensed when Liam was dismissive about social media abuse targeting Noel’s daughter Anais, 20 – who he had with first wife Meg Mathews – in an interview two years ago.
His refusal to stop baiting Noel and his family makes her fear for her sons, she says. And she claims to have amassed a six-inch file of evidence from social media against him.
‘(Anais) had a relationship with Liam growing up…and for your uncle to publicly refer to you as ‘his f***ng kid’,” she said. ‘I think to myself how much longer before he goes for Sonny or Donovan?’
Sara, from Edinburgh, revealed that after she first started dating Noel in the 2000s, she got on with his volatile brother.
But when the couple briefly split, Liam turned on her.
‘He rang me 11 times in one night,’ she recalled. ‘It was “f***ing b***h this, f***ing b***h that’.”
The brothers’ relationship became increasingly difficult, with Sara remembering, in particular, a fight between them in a hotel room which led to Liam throwing her handbag down the corridor.
‘They were rolling around like geckos,’ she said. ‘Noel’s shirt was in ribbons. We left, but then I realised I’d left my bag in there. Noel knocked on the door and it was hurled down the corridor. It just became untenable, exhausting.’
The band finally split in 2009. But Liam has become increasingly vocal about wanting a reunion, saying the band WILL reunite with or without Noel.
Noel, 52, told the magazine he occasionally comes close to agreeing.
‘I’ve often thought “Lets just do a gig”, he said. ‘But I realised I would only be doing it to shut this f***ing idiot up. The only other thing I could come up with was burning his house down or smashing his car in…but that’s not going to solve anything is it?’
Sara says the feud is a case of family history repeating itself.
‘I think Noel was singled out and bullied by his father,’ she said. ‘It’s happening again. It’s a lonely, unpleasant place for Noel to be.’
