For the past couple of years, Tim Rogers – frontman of You Am I, one of the country’s finest writers and performers – has spent every Friday afternoon with us here at Double J.
His show is called Liquid Lunch, and it features his ruminations on life, art, culture, music, and whatever else he feels like discussing with us.
He doesn’t often have guests, but when he does… oh boy.
Earlier this year he sat down with Little Steven Van Zandt (The E Street Band, The Sopranos) and in November, he’s got another mate joining him.
Noel Gallagher has written some of the biggest rock’n’roll songs of all time. His band Oasis loom larger than just about any other from Britain in the 1990s and they remain hugely relevant despite the fact they’ve been broken up a decade.
Noel and his brother Liam have both been vocal about their love of You Am I and of Tim as a frontman over the years. You Am I supported Oasis on their tour of Australia, Hong Kong and Japan back in 1998 and the lads have never forgotten it.
Noel is in town next month with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – they’re doing some show with a little band called U2 – and he has agreed to catch up with his old mate Tim Rogers while he’s here.
And he’s letting us record it.
And he’s letting you join them.
Here’s what we can tell you so far:
- It will be in Sydney.
- It will be on Friday 22 November.
- You will be able to win tickets in the lead-up.
- The competition will open on Friday 8 November.
We don’t have any more info to share at this stage, but we’ll keep you up to date. Promise.
Tim Rogers. Noel Gallagher. In conversation. Who knows what could happen? We can’t wait.
